the blue and yellow blood (of the deputy mayor of kakhovka)

in kakhovka
the deputy mayor
is posting pictures
of war wounds

he believed
this
was a last form
of goodbye

they saved him
though

that world
is full of heroes
of all kinds

kharkiv and kyiv
are getting blasted

reporters say
the ground shakes
as though
a live thing

invasion
takes no heed
of what

or who
or how

or
why

~

one inch
one foot
one yard –
call it
a meter –
will do

one foot

another yard

another metre

destroy it
as you go

make sure
that it
all
goes up in smoke

black and grey
and brown

make sure

~

in kakhovka
the deputy mayor
is still alive
you know

for a second

for
a minute

call it
another hour

his heart
is beating
blue
and yellow
blood

~

  1. It’s a shocking development in world history — but the Ukrainians seem to be holding firm for one more minute, one more meter! Thank you for putting it all in words, as sad as it is!

  2. If you don’t write it, Frank, there will A/ be no release for you and B/ no record of what happened as it happened. It breaks our hearts but it needs to be stated and us not reliant on media reports Already some ‘issues’ are not quite truthful
