I’ve whittled the day away this morning assembling a rough and ready recording of my poetry slam poem – The Truth of Time (as revealed by the pictures).
It’s up on YouTube now if you’d like to listen.

The juxtaposition of words and images from the two wars is so powerfully done.

I’ve been seeing such a lot of parallels, Liz. All the destruction seems as though its a continuation, rather than a century apart.
I’m still writing these awful pictures – up to week 9, now. I’m trying to give them up, but they make demands.

I can understand the demands of those pictures. They do cry out to be seen and acknowledged.

Such a very strong device for drawing the parallels – and how we never learn from history. The prize is very well deserved

Thank you, Derrick. Nothing changed in any significant way in over a hundred years.

No – but the weapons are more destructive.

I am surprised how exactly the photos from different times meet each other and in whole with the poem itself. A wonderful idea the dubbing with the image material. Very thoughtful! Thanks for sharing, Frank! Happy May, and enjoy a great week! xx Michael

It all blurs, Micheal. We haven’t changed in any great respect in over a hundred years it seems.
Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Luanne. I’ve worked a lot with images from both these wArs. The images seem to blur into one.
Glad you enjoyed the reading. It’s a great pleasure to be able to read and record.

I am so pleased that you are continuing to write about this horror. Reporters are good, but poets express nuances that dig deeper. It is beautiful work indeed

Yes, I agree, Claire. Not sure how I chose myself for the job, but it goes on.
