I am thinking
of drawing
a scarecrow
who
would it be
I wonder
I mean . . .
what I mean
is
who would it bring
to mind
would it be
some stranger
standing
in a field
watching
from the corner
of one eye
at
what am I
doing
or
would it be me
self portrait
twenty-three
each one
a little truer
each one
myself
in a glass
as seen
through the point
of a pencil
the ink
of a pen
or
just a scarecrow
of the kind
that farmers
put up
in a field
or
on the edge
of an orchard
of apple trees
I guess
I’ll know
soon
sharpen
the pencil
turn over
a new page
get ready to render
the same
old face
or perhaps . . .
perhaps
someone new

I’ll try, Michael. I’m enjoying the tasks I set myself, for the most part.

Nicely written my inquisitiveness was smitten and what sings to me clear are the words in my ear.
sharpen

turn over

get ready to render
the same
old face
I wish I had written. Xxx

Thank you so much, Ellen. I’m starting to get used to rendering the same old face. Really enjoying my drawing.
Glad you enjoyed the poem.

By now, you probably have an idea. I immediately thought of The Wizard of OZ friends Combination of the three?

I was tempted to play with that particular scarecrow, Claire, but I think it is too famous, in a way.

I tend to agree, Frank. Why borrow someone else’s idea when your own has merit?

In the end, I get into less trouble when they are my own conception and creation, but these are good for skill development in the meanwhile.
