Receiving the first review for a newly minted book is an edgy event. Anticipation and anxiety all mixed together. I am delighted (and a little relieved) to welcome the first review of my newest release - Voices (In The Trash) by Li (from Tao Talk). I was delighted to read her thoughts and summation of … Continue reading New Reviews (2/2): Voices (In The Trash)
Frank Prem has followed up his first children’s poetry story book with more of the lovable bears in A Beechworth Bakery Bears e-Book (too) and I have enjoyed this book as much as the first.
About the story
What are the Beechworth Bakery Bears up to this time?
Has Tom sold out of Bee Stings?
Take The Beechworth Bakery Bears (too) home to read, and find out!
My review for the book 18th February 2021
I don’t get to read very many children’s picture books as I have no-one to read them to in our extended family. But even an oldie like me can appreciate the wonderful images in this little book…
I've been messing around for a little while to get a recording of this quartet of poems together to upload as a listenable experience. I managed to do that today - just! A Song for the Horizon - image The sound is a little variable across the 5 different recording elements that comprise the video. … Continue reading A Song for the Horizon
I've snatched a moment to put together another short video, this time featuring a pair of juvenile magpies foraging outside my back door. The point is to try, with a few images and very few words to create something a little bigger. On the page, the words should draw attention to the image, and the … Continue reading Another short one
Just a wee bubby little recording (2 minutes or so) from the Voices collection. This was just a little test run, really to get a feel for how to read such short pieces. I'll probably do a fresh recording and perhaps an article to accompany it over on the Frank Prem dot com site, but … Continue reading Voices In The Trash – a small reading on Youtube
No new writing today, so far at least. No. Today has been filled with Voices. I have completed drafting my voices picture poetry book - Voices (In The Trash). It is similar to the Beechworth Bakery Bears in format - images with a poem they inspired, as a spread across 2 pages of an 8.5 … Continue reading Amusing myself – with voices
My Thanks To Sally Cronin over at the Smoragsbord Magazine for re-posting her wonderful review of Walk Away Silver Heart.
I am still amazed to recall how this and the other 2 books in the Love Poetry Trilogy came about – all at the same time, slipping from a phrase in one, to a phrase in the other and developing them as three manuscripts at the same time.
I thought it might be nice to pop in a link to some readings from Walk Away Silver Heart and the rest of the trilogy that are posted on YouTube, as a playlist.
I have read some amazing books in the last twelve months and I would like to share them again with you, updated with the authors most recent releases and their biography.
Today my review from February 2020 for Frank Prem – Walk away silver heart: Poetry inspired by the Amy Lowell poem ‘Madonna of the Evening Flowers’ (A Love Poetry Trilogy Book 1)
About the collection
All day long I have been working
Now I am tired.
I call: “Where are you?”
But there is only the oak tree rustling in the wind . . .
from Madonna of the Evening Flowers
Drawing on the phrasing of the early 20th Century Amy Lowell poem Madonna of the Evening Flowers (above) Frank Prem has produced a collection of personal and interpersonal love poems written, as always, in the unique style that allows every reader to relate.
Slow progress, but I am now left with just one collection of written work to bind up into a book format. It has been quite an undertaking, but in the end it is only the ghosts that remain. Fitting, really. The heading for this post is the likely title for the collection of ghost-style poems. … Continue reading the first violin and other ghostly verses
8 New Covers for 8 new titles As soon as I heard the foorsteps on my driveway a few minutes ago I knew that it would have to be my new titles being delivered. Just a feeling. The top row are the last of my Archive series. Books 17 - 20, and bring my otherwise … Continue reading I love making books.
I've just had a 'first'. Have managed to process an order from here in Australia to be printed and delivered in the UK. Just a single copy of a proof of one of the new titles (I haven't even gotten a copy for myself, yet). Assuming it all goes well I'll be interested to incorporate … Continue reading International orders
