still its creature

Psychiatry 5: Hostel Life – Poem 74 – Final

in aftermath
it seems so clear

there are few mental health
happy endings

and there are no
simple cures

there’s just the risk
of cynicism
among repeat offenders
with bad habits

and minds that won’t
take the time
to learn

there’s only so much
before enough
of trying to change worlds

enough of listening
catching flak
and shouldering tears

of bearing
other people’s burdens

there is no room
no role
for heroes

this is mental health
and all it requires is you
and I
to be its creatures

Psychiatry 6: epilogue

This is the final, very brief, section of the psychiatry memoir.

Thank you to all those who have read the set, and so often given comment and feedback. It is much appreciated.

There may be a few stray poems that I will add to the set as I find them in the archives.

The final section begins (and ends) here.
