a dragonfly
is watching
me
does it see
me
yes
is it really
watching
me
yes
have we met
before
is this some
extra-normal phenomena
no
am I
special
no
is it trying
to communicate
say something
without words
no
could it be
a pet . . .
trained
to land
on my hand
or a finger
no
ok ok
perhaps
I could climb aboard . . .
learn to fly it
no-o-o-o . . .
if I
shrank myself
became a miniature of me
ye-e-e-s
with miniature
armour
and some weapons –
a lance
a knight
and his steed . . .
yes
protectors
of the kingdom
of the backyard
above the pond . . .
YES
YES
definitely
yes
the dragonfly
is gone now
but
still . . .
~
Love the idea of shrinking down to fly the dragonfly in order to protect the yard!

You bet, Janet. I love the way they quarter the territory when they’re flying. Zig and zag sharp turns. Very exciting, I think.

Fabulous, Frank! You drew me right in with the no, no and no… then yes, I’ll take that ride above the pond 😁

And zig . . . and zag!
It would be a fine ride, Ellen. Thank you.

Perhaps one day you can ride it.

Any time, Sadje – in my mind. I actually wrote about the aftermath of a war fought on dragon fly-back in one of my past book collections. I was very pleased with it.

I love the dialogue, the hesitancy yeees, nooo and the use of the right-hand side of the page as though it expresses both thought sides. Great work.

Thanks Claire. The gradual unfolding of inspiration. Let’s fly!

I wonder what the dragonfly’s thoughts were.

For sue, Mick. A whole alternative provocation, I reckon.
