triple hopes (and cockatoo justifications)
Dry bones can harm no one
~

the cockatoos –
my nemesis
for so many weeks
as the plums ripened –
are abundant
they have grown accustomed
now
to not being harried
not clapped
out of the tree
now
they are after
last skerricks
there is no harm
now
in granting
free rein
to them
it has been a game
of sacrifice
and salvage
now it is
relent
and release
I hope
there is
satisfaction
for them
as they roam the branches
unrestrained
~
I was awake
last night
with an aching arm
a booster shot
playing minor havoc
in my shoulder
I can’t be certain
anymore
if vaccinations
are helpful
against the twisting contortion
of this plague
maybe
probably
most likely
it does no harm –
other than
my assaulted
muscle –
and
it is already
history
I am now seeking
hope
triple vaxxed
unrestrained
hope
that I can
choose
my tree
and the timing
by which
I sit in it
choose the plum
that I like
most
to enjoy
decide
whether or not
it is time
to change focus –
cashews
are almost ripe
after all
I am
triple-hoping
that it is
yet
timely
and the days
ahead
will reveal
the justifications
for triple-hopes
~
The birds help with trimming the tree, but let’s hope that the plague doesn’t get to trimming too many people from the branches – the best reason to put up with the discomfort of the booster.

THere’s surely a fair bit if that trimming going on, Cage.
Difficult to find the right ‘life reset’ settings to cope with all that is happening around us.

But we will, Frank, because in the end there are only two choices … so we go on, offering a hand to those who struggle, a smile to those who happen by, a nod to those who venture out into the world of danger.

Sound philosophy, Cage.

Thank you, Liz. Much to think about in this current state of affairs. It’s always the case, I suppose.

You’re welcome, Frank. My head needs to rest for a time from all the thinking.

The world is (currently) a very provocative place, I’m finding.

As am I. Very distressing.

Great poem Frank. I have had all three shots with no side effects… long term effect at our age are meaningless! :>)

Thank you, Dwight. I’m glad to have had the shot. I don’t want to be part of the debate. Just do it and be done.

Yes, I don’t want to lay in the hospital for a month on a ventilator! Just makes sense to me!

Hi Frank, I have had the same experience with our plums for the past two years. The vaccines most definitely make a difference and people who have them don’t need to be hospitalised and don’t usually die. That was the point of the vaccines. My mom and aunt will be called for their boosters soon.

I agree, Robbie, and am glad to have the 3rd dose out of the road now. SOre arm, but otherwise no effects.
What’s been getting into your plums?

The birds eat everything, the peaches, the plums, the strawberries, and the figs. I used to net the trees but the birds kept getting caught and a few died so I stopped doing it. I don’t need the fruit.

It’s very disheartening. I sometimes reach a point of wondering why bother. Then usually get drawn back to trying to produce something, again.

I don’t have to work to hard at the fruit, Frank, it just grows. WE have the fattest birds in the world. I shall have to build a runway for them soon.

Too funny, Robbie.

Welcome back, Claire. Yes the plums are done. The cockatoos and I are indifferent toward each other again, so all is well, there.
Sorry you missed the recorded readings. I’ve taken them down while I do some other things that involve them. I’ll post them back up on YouTube in due course and let you know when they’re there.
