There is not even solitude in the mountains
But red sullen faces sneer and snarl
From doors of mudcracked houses
~
I cannot read
the news
today
it is all
politicians
snarling
liars
liar-catchers
attention-seekers
angry men
who want
to make the play
who want
to win the dame
be loved
just like
when mama loved them
and dad approved
and teacher
marked the paper
with
a super grade
because he thought
they showed
some character
to rant
and rave
in years nine
and ten
then made
a telling point
in
debating class
top of class
leadership
the world be . . .
australia be
praised
and glad
this is the future
of us all
god be praised
and
keep your head
down low
~
You could also be describing life in these United States at the moment. The political posturing we’re subjected to on the news is truly disgusting.

AMen to that, Liz. Our PM is lying about not being a liar, at the moment, then lying when he is proven to have told another porkie.
Quite disgusting.

A child who did that would be punished by his parents.

We used to talk of paying peanuts and getting monkeys, now they all want candy.

Very gloomy times.
At least we can write!

Being able to write makes all the difference. I did some of that myself today!

This poem is so accurate; there is no leadership to value at present Sadly they would be like that irrespective of the pandemic. Thank goodness you are still you Frank and can tell the tale.
