I can’t really
say
how it happened
we
just met
and
suited each other
somehow
it was
at the palais
when I was dancing
and I still
love
to dance
whenever leslie
will take me
if I get to choose
it will be
a dance hall
or the pictures
in the evening
if we don’t go out
there is always
the gramophone
here
I’ll show it
to you

As kids we had an old Victrola in the attic and lots of 78s- great fun

I know that, as boys, we certainly wrecked a lot of the things I would now consider wonderful – old clocks, cash registers. Possibly belt-driven record players, as well.
Probably a blessing we didn’t have a gramophone to play with as well!

I love how you wrote this. It’s like a slow dance in itself.
