I commune (this way)

Barn – Brown Brothers Winery, Milawa, 2021

I pray . . .

awkwardly

I pray
alone

I pray in places
not found
by the usual devout

but in places
that speak
back to me

places profound
that can reach me
through time

through
timeless savageries

each hole
my heart . . .

I see the light
that shines
so many gateways
to the divine

forgive me
this
is just a thought

and
this prayer
is just my thought

and the light
is
only sun
passing through
rusted tin . . .

I know

but for a moment
I held
my breath

and for a moment
I saw

beyond

for a moment
I felt
a lighter air

I commune
this way

  1. There is no special place to pray Frank, nor a place to grieve. God hears our prayers wherever they are offered. Today this poem has blest me more than usual because a dear family friend passed away on Wednesday. The power of the pen. ink, words heart and imagination; a powerful combination.
