I decided today that I was overdue for a reading to camera. The longer I don’t do one, the easier it is not to do one.
I’ve read a handful of poems from the current work-in-progress this morning, and, as rough as it always is, with me, I did enjoy it.
I find that the surest way of knowing if a poem flows and has good rhythm is to read it aloud and listen as I read, and perhaps to listen as I prepare the recording for other purposes.
My other purposes are, almost always, to share it with you.
Do feel free to watch and listen. The sound is scratchy, but ok for the purpose, I think. You’ll want around 11 minutes for this set.
This was really beautiful. I listened to this while tidying. Have you recorded any audio books or other works?

Hi Peregrine. Thank you so much. I haven’t done audio books, but have recorded a good few readings for YouTube, now. Try here (My channel): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvfW2WowqY1euO-Cj76LDKg

Thanks, Frank! This will help me get through my “Friday” tomorrow. I took Friday off to extend the Labor Day holiday in America. I’ll be sure to subscribe using my author YouTube. Cheers!

Hope you enjoy them. There’s a fair bit there if you’re up for it.

This will be wonderful when completed! (I do hope your dating was a typo and you’re not planning to take another 1,010 years to complete it!) I particularly like #75.

I noticed the 3030 as well. I did a double take either way bc I’m used to month/date/year. Silly me.

The 3/9 part didn’t bother me, although I did stop to think about it — I’m somewhat used to upside down dates, with my English heritage, but not to years that are that far off 🙂 !

I’ve written out the date in full, now. Have to stay in the habit of doing that.

I should be used to it by now (had to write them the European way for college papers sometimes, etc etc), but I still do a double take every now and again. And then I mumble to myself: “Is that March 12th…Or December 3rd? Well has to be the first one. December hasn’t come yet.” The rocket science is real haha. 🤣

Fixed now. Have to laugh at myself, sometimes.

I’ve managed to break two soap dispensers this past summer (though my husband claims he may have broken the one before me). Laughter is a wonderful thing.

Thank you, Janet. It took me an age to find the typo! LOL. I’ve fixed it now.
Delighted you enjoyed the reading. I miss doing them, and forget to make time.

Thanks Derrick. It is such a pleasure to read, contributing my physical voice as well as written.
Of course, I’d likely do a darn sight better if I rehearsed, but who has time for that in these fleeting times?

I really enjoyed the reading, Frank. I’m still imprisoned. No champagne and intimacy for me. Everyone thinks I’m weird though. Take care, Frank. At this rate, Victoria will be free of the virus and locking NSW out.

Thank you Tracy.
Yes, I know it’s tough everywhere. It is the language of politicians trying to be slippery that promotes such jaundiced interpretation of ‘others’ in better situations.
There are many twists left in this, I reckon.

I can’t keep up with all the twists and turns, Frank. First we have suppression, then aggressive suppression (zero community transmission), and now there is backsliding on that, and blame-shifting. I imagine Victorians are desperate for some clarity on what the end game is. Can you imagine rocking up to your doctor and getting the run around. You would give him or her the flick, wouldn’t you?

I have a sense of dread that I’m using as my guide, Tracy.
There is worse to come I fear.
