a beat (to tell a pretty)

would that the past
were not
so broken

what present
we might have been

~

there is a
prettiness
to the view
of what has gone
before

something pastel
in the colours
I think

a softness

pretty hopes
and rainbow
wishes

I clung to them
as long
as I could

but dead leaves
and dried
petals
do not keep the colour
true

and the past
remembered
is just a pretty lie

told
by the heart
to
the heart

sometimes
to keep it
beating

~
