I am singing
happy birthday
to me
I am singing it
again
from start
to end
a little song
like
happy birthday
can make me safe
if I use the soap
and rub my hands
scrub myself
clean
it isn’t really
my birthday
I suppose you knew
this is just a way
to learn
they tell me
if I sing
my
happy birthdays
nice and slow
I might live
another birthday
down the road
so sing with me
happy birthday
to you
and sing
a happy birthday
to you
(that’s twice)
I’ll see you
in a while
when your
my
birthday comes around
and I’ll sing
happy birthday twice
(again)
with you
~
is it indeed? Happy Birthday, as many times as it please!

Sorry Cage – I’ve been misleading, unintentionally.
There is a recommendation that we sing Happy Birthday twice while scrubbing with soap. The length of time it takes is approximately how long we should wash.
It is being taught in Kindergarten, apparently.
No real birthday for me. Just oldness in my bones.

Since mine’s coming up shortly, and I fully expect to celebrate — even if all the restaurants are closed — I’ll accept your Happy Birthday. 🙂

A good one – I have read of relatives singing happy birthday through care home windows, too.

Such strange times, these!
We will learn much about ourselves, I think.
