too suddenly

Inspired by the phrase ‘made a sudden leap’ taken from ‘The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’ by T. S. Eliot.
This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

I play
with intuition

I tamper
with my future days

I look ahead
I
like to know
what’s coming

what
is coming

I make
a sudden leap
because
suddenly
I know

and I am upon a moment
still
to come

I can hold it
in my hands

hold it up
against
the light

keep it
in my pocket
until I’m ready

until
it is
ready

then I can live it
because
I know it
and it will not hold
a surprise
I do not like
when I’m surprised
by a moment
leaping up on me
too
suddenly
