sufficient (at the heart)

Inspired by the phrase ‘Retiring back a while sufficed at what they are, but never forgotten’ taken from ‘Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass)’ by Walt Whitman.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

it is not necess . . .

I mean
don’t feel you always mus . . .

come
back here
where I am

it is not
always required
that you take
the lead

sometimes
the mob may run
before you

sometimes
the action seems
up there
way ahead

away ahead

but here
is where you are

here
is your
entire world
(this moment)

be at peace
for you suffice
you know

wherever you are
in the teeming
you suffice

and sometimes
you may be un-remembered

so it seems
so
it seems

but the heart
of the universe
does not forget
you

always it turns
around
where you stand

so stride
large footsteps
or small

stride out
across the story
of your life

with you at the heart
of things

as it should be

you sufficient
unto yourself
