is beautiful (this year)

Inspired by the phrase ‘I loafe and invite my soul’ taken from ‘Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass)’ by Walt Whitman.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

I will wander
wool gathering
in my mind

as the wind
blows
stray petals of blossom
before me

a loaf along
with my face
to the breeze
bring the power of the smell
of spring
to me

and I
invite my soul
to join me

sing
a sabbatical
pastorale

including
a flash of red
and
the squeaking pitch
of birds
shrilly arguing
above me
in waking branches
of the oak tree

what better wool
than this
to gather

what better smell
of spring

what better than
to be
loafing as one
with my soul

blossom
on the peach
is beautiful
this year
