see then sing (then rise)

Inspired by the phrase ‘And what I assume you shall assume’ taken from ‘Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass)’ by Walt Whitman.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

I
will sing songs
as though
the heavens sang

I will open
up
my voice
with great
conviction

and I
will sing
for you

croon my love
of being
under the sky

let you hear
my heart
its rhythm
beating
beating

beating

and you will see
what I see
through the tenor
of my tones

you will assume
what I assume
is right
within the song

it is
of heaven
that I sing
to you

it is of places
we will share
among the stars
that populate this night

so sing with me

come
sing with me

let us
be our voices

let us rise

note
by note

above ourselves
