much like the bees (with your permission)

Inspired by the phrase ‘I lean and loafe at my ease’ taken from ‘Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass)’ by Walt Whitman.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

end of winter

balmy day

you
sitting in the sun

while I lean
casually loafing

at my ease
watching

bees
are at the blossom
already
the season
will not wait

and your permissions
to clear
the garden boxes
becomes a vision

of clarity
where tangles grow
in obfuscation

I envisage
a time
not long away

of secateurs
and shears
and shovels

happy work
much like the bees
and blooms

but
today
I loaf
and lean and watch

at my
ease
