Inspired by the phrase ‘With a basket of roses on your arm‘, from the poem ‘Madonna of the Evening Flowers’ written by Amy Lowell. This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project |
I think
of summer
leaves full
like
a fluttering of flags
adorn
deciduous trees
I think
a white cotton
dress
and think a bonnet
too
barefoot
lightly upon a path
a twirl
with a basket full
of roses
I watch
my thought
skip and dance
I watch those leaves
paint the bonnet
I dab
the skirt
pink the roses
you
paint your roses
too
