what is true (is a secret)

Inspired by the phrase ‘I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard’ taken from ‘Song of Myself (Leaves of Grass)’ by Walt Whitman.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

what good
is a secret
I ask

I can’t answer
although
I should know

I harbor the many
and the plenty

feed them
in darkness
upon myself

for they
are me
I
am they

and we rot

we rot
together

(in secret)

but
what to do

should I
permit myself
perhaps
to speak
regardless of hazard

regardless
of risks
when
after all
a secret
is a secret
for a reason

as a protection
of me

or
of you

and so
I
never knowing
the right thing
the best thing

the clever

stay silent
harbouring
for good
or bad

my secrets

and do not

I
will not
reveal
of myself
what I know

what is true
