Books for Older Readers (#BFOR) is a UK based group I belong to, and is having a #BlogBlitz, running for about a month, with different members lining up to post, in turn.
My item is later in the month, and will be posted at my author site (https://www.FrankPrem.com) and I’ll let folk here know when it is posted, but in the meantime, I’ll be sharing links to new articles as they appear through the month.
Discussion is invited, either here or at any of the BFOR BlogBlitz sites.
Check it out.

I tend to set my stories at least fifteen to twenty years ago partly because as I’m in my sixties, I would find it difficult to accurately portray many aspects of life, especially the speech and attitudes of the teenage / twenties generation. I am very conscious of having read a few books by authors in their sixties / seventies who have tried to do this and failed badly, their attempts grating on you when you read them.

I agree, Mick. The only way would be to write about an older person and their experience of contemporary time, or the impact of that life on them. Something along those lines, at least.

Definitely, Frank. I also find the existence of mobile phones often complicates any plot I’m working on, but that’s another story (so to speak).

You should ring it in, Mick . . . or perhaps just send a message.

I’m sure there are all sorts of ways around it really, it’s probably just another excuse I’m making to avoid the modern world!

It is what it is, Mick. I consider that I’m a bit of a dinosaur, but only I have my knowledge to pass on, or my stories, my poetry and etc.
Only me. Only you.
It’s a good place to be.

From one dinosaur to another then, Frank. Agreed.
