elation (two times)

Inspired by the phrase ‘Slipped by the terrace’ taken from ‘The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock’ by T. S. Eliot.

This now comprises a part of The Linkages Project

these thoughts
run
like water released
by a sharp turn
of the faucet

released
to conceal themselves
as they will
in a game of hide
and find

leap forth
to startle
and surprise

slip by
on the terrace

where I wander
a little
lost

until
my own meditations
are illuminated
like
lightning strike
in darkness

and I need
to find . . .

immediately
I need to seek you
out

to tell you
what I
now know

see you smile
benevolence
and let me know
yes
you know

and let me know
my thought
has meaning

and I
have meaning

I am elated
then

now

I am elated
fully

and twice

    • Thank you Robbie.

I’m finding the dual themes of the phrase as a prompt and love poems as an overarching idea is bearing interesting fruit. Certainly from the writing perspective and it’s lovely that you and others are enjoying them.

      Who wouldn’t be a writer?
