alone (together)

the flame
is alone
but for me

I watch it
flicker
at the faintness
of my breath

I am alone
but
for a flame

watch me
flicker
to the pulse
of mellow light

we are alone
(flicker)
breathing
in our own ways

feeling
(flicker)
the play of air

watching
(flicker)
the play
that is light

together

~

Poem #565 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.
