(a child’s way) into the wood

9c4

there is a
way

I was told
by a bird

there is
a way

I believe
that I dreamed
I saw
water osmosed

I could enter …
a mineral

I could travel
through roots
up into the live wood

and I would be …

yes
I’d be …

or
I could just
hold this trunk
tight

I could hug it
and close my eyes

just pretend
I am one
and it will
keep me
alive

and
while I’m here …

I can count
up to one
thousand
and then
to two

if I count
long enough
then maybe
all the world
will clean up

perhaps …

perhaps …

I’ll find my way
into
this wood
