This is the second instalment of a new kind of challenge for me, courtesy of Kat Myrman, under the heading of Twittering Tales.
The challenge is as follows:
Each Tuesday I will provide a photo prompt. Your mission, if you choose to accept the challenge, is to tell a story in 280 characters or less. This challenge is #126 and is actually dated March 12.

here
is the room where
my heart lies
still
here
the place
I hold close my dreams
and only I
know where they lie
each night
but
I always leave
a shingle out
a subtlety
of signage
it’s not a matter
of GPS
or Wi Fi
no blinking
of the modem
you need to
close your eyes
and drift
to find me
~
279 characters.
add a – in wifi and you get 280 🙂

The numbers seem to move around a bit. It should be 279, but I checked s moment ago and seem to have lost a couple.
A mystery of subtle signage.

I get 277 so I’ll shut up now 🙂

I get 277 from the web page, but 279 in my word document. Cut and paste and 2 words lost.
Probably the Word counter. Meh.

Yeah there will be a rouge space there somewhere. Most word processors will count a single space at the end of a line as a character, or it might count one in a blank row, but it wont count two in a row.

Therefore, I should stick to words, rather than characters if I want to sleep at night.
Maybe there should be a tolerance of 1 or 2 per cent, like in political polls. That’d do it.

Or what you do is don’t count and hope no one else counts either. Near enough is good enough!

LMAO – says the guy who has just spent time counting! I see what you did there.
I’ve just gotten the final cover and final contents for the paperback (Yay). Ebook conversion this week.

I did actually just copy and paste into my word processor. I might not be good at adding characters but I was the master of making a 300 word essay a 1000 word essay at school. If you need a few “and” “or” “if” to bulk it out let me know 🙂
Well done I hope it’s everything you wanted/expected.

Hi Kat.
Late again! Sorry about that. Time has been flowing through my fingers as preparations for releasing my second collection of poems (Voices out of disastrous Bushfires we had here a decade ago) is nearing reality.
So exciting!

Thanks Kat. I’ll be doing a cover expose soon. Such a delight to be able to pursue a thing I love.
