in the air
do you swim
do you fly
is it
a flap of wings
a kick
of the feet
a wake
behind
a vapour trail
in the sky
is it wings
or
a cape
you are up too high
I cannot tell
you are up
too high
while I crane my neck
to see you
I
imagine how it feels
to be you
bathing in air
winging
in the jet stream
I imagine
how it feels
to be you up there
a speck
painted
on the blue

Poem #501 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.
Swimming or flying…there must be a few similarities.

That’s the way I see it when I’m writing, Mick.

Hi Robbie.
Thank you. I try to put myself in the hands of the muse to direct a response, in this case, to my reading of some of Bachelard’s work. That man has proven to be a blessing to me for the inspirations I’ve received from his work.
