one day (aground) – a solitary shanty

one day
my hull
one day
a shadow only

one day
my heart
one day
till my all
was taken

little sail
some boat with her oars
soft splashing

some runabout
making waves till my wheel
was spinning

I am on shoals
I am a shoal
built of emptiness

these teeth
in my skin
tear me up
tear me down
feel nothing

with my no-heart

no heart
at all

the wind

empty lays
on absent strings

hollow song

gutted and left

I am
