one day (aground) – a solitary shanty

one day
my hull
one day
a shadow only

one day
my heart
one day
till my all
was taken

~

some
little sail
some boat with her oars
soft splashing

some runabout
making waves till my wheel
was spinning

~

I am on shoals
I am a shoal
built of emptiness

these teeth
in my skin
tear me up
tear me down
but
I
feel nothing

with my no-heart

no heart
at all

~

whistle
the wind

empty lays
played
on absent strings

whistle
hollow song

gutted and left

I am
run
aground

~
