dream, draw, home to bed

he drew a picture
of a house

chimney
red roof
and windows

in the picture
he drew himself
opening a door

~

he drew a picture
of a kitchen

pots
stove
and table

in the picture
he drew himself
stealing biscuits
hot
right off the tray

~

he drew a picture
of a hallway

flower pot
umbrella stand
grim faces

he drew himself
mid step
climbing up the stairs

~

he drew a picture
of a bedroom

books
wall posters
model planes

he drew himself
pulling up blankets
snuggling in the bed

going back to sleep
returning
to his dream

~

Poem #479 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.
