friends
are you
sleeping
so quiet
I believe you
are lost
in a dream
a dream
of flying

Thank you to everyone who has read these poems that came out of a one hour walk around the local Lake, and took three months to finish presenting.
I’m excited now to start a new series tomorrow – Voices in the Trash (and the Treasure). I hope you’ll enjoy them, too.
Regards,
Frank
Great effort getting all that out of one walk.
Are the voices in the trash related to the aliens and ufos?

If you’re ever over that way, the Mill Markets is a great place to spend a couple of hours.

I’ll remember that. We don’t have great markets here. I like the Fremantle Markets for time wasting

I enjoyed a visit a couple of years back. Not on my usual route, though.

We have a farmers market and a bazaar once a month (each) from about Sept to May but the bazaar has turned into little more than a garage sale with a sausage sizzle by the local cork club for the RCH Good Friday appeal. And the Farmers market has become less about local produce and more about city dwellers marketing their fancy crap at country folk for three times the price of the local green grocers.
We need to get back to the roots of what it is to be country.

They slip away from first principles pretty quickly, I think.

Yeah the trouble here has always been that we are too close to the city. 30 years ago people would ignore local shops and drive to the city to save $$ then expect local stores to fix their stuff because driving back to city cost money. We are still close enough to the city to make a daily commute possible and many people think that means we want to be more city-like, unfortunately the council thought the same for 20 years but now with the power stations closing (among other businesses) people want to be country again, but it’s nearly too late and the council don’t understand country they only understand $$$.

It’s in a hell of a pickle down there. Such a beautiful area and so stuffed.

Yeah there is a lot of bad press telling us what we should and shouldn’t do but several things remain. With the coal under us here we could just about make every Victorian a millionaire. No one wants to invest in cleaner coal. Hazelwood tried to and it was shot down by the government and the owners because of cost, even though it was cheaper than the alternatives. And Engie have plans for the land where Hazelwood is that they are not sharing with anyone but rely on Hazelwood not being there. The next thing to go will be the Hazelwood Pondage because without the power station taking water from it it’s getting too full. They ignore the fact that Hazelwood never took water from the pond, they recycled every drop of cold water, made it hot, used it and put it in the cooling pond that drained back into the main pond.

Thats true and apparently those with the loudest voices are the only ones governments listen to whether they are right or wrong.

Is Voices in the Trash going to be about President Trump’s statements?! đŸ™‚

I found the voices to be apolitical Tom.

Thanks Anne. The trash set had a great feel to it while I was working on it. Hopefully it’ll be fun for readers, too.
