calculating an arc

Poem #311 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

to calculate an arc
I’ll chase you

a matter of degrees

three point one four
is your head start

treadmill
paddle-wheel
run
to keep it turning

don’t look back
I’m right behind you

don’t look
I’m very near

the wheel keeps turning
round
you are there
while
I am
here running to keep up
to keep ahead

perhaps the calculation
is three point one
times
persistence

I’m calculating arcs
as parts
of treadmills

I wish the mouse
wouldn’t move
so fast

around and around
it goes
