for the unsuspecting

Poem #301 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

look out!

there are bullets in the air
there are bombs

everywhere he turns
every page
is filled with danger

oh!
duck your head
duck your head

that was a close one

this book is a war zone
he can’t put it down
can’t walk away
until the end

he can see
through the eyes
of the words
of the author
on paper

he can taste
the dirt in his mouth
from the shell-burst
that made his tea
go cold
before he drank it

this is so real
the next whistling missile
could end it

look out!

take care
with that page
when you turn it
over

there could be trouble
written

there are bullets
everywhere
and bombs primed

for the unsuspecting
reader

don’t forget
to drink
your cup of tea
