poplar equations

Poem #286 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

is to sky
as sway
and wave
is to somewhere
beyond my reach
in a way
like bird is
to air
a touch below
a touch above
behind and through
and soaring
to places
I can hardly
see well enough
to calculate the hard ratios
wave and sway and soar
to the high

up there

I am
to ground
lying here and gazing up
just as

who never
looks down
