constructing me

Poem #242 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

am not really me
you know

it’s strange
I carry a picture

see there
is who
I’m supposed to be

that is how
I should appear
to you

I’m not really me
the way you see me

is just your construct

and I have my own
me construct
that I rely upon
to get me through
each thought of mine
and every action

to keep me
assembled well enough
that I can share an image
with you

so you
can make your construct
to the really me
you know

    • Hi Ray. Glad you enjoyed the piece. Self imagery and other people’s images of who and what we are are interesting ideas, but hard to pin down in an accessible way. I’m delighted that the piece seems to work ok.

      Thank you.
