to believe

dry days flow
like an endless river

for so long now
it is a test
of faith

but the dust
to me
still looks like
a cloud

and I believe
any hour
it will start
to rain

I watch the sun
as it climbs
ever higher

like a great yellow eye
that doesn’t care
for what it sees

but I think
that I saw
a shimmered tear

I believe
there’s a pity there
that will turn
into rain

and I am ready
with the land
so thirsty
to start drinking

hold my mouth open
turned up
to the sky

it will take
just a drop
just a small

that’s all that I need
to believe
in the rain
