only now

Poem #153 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

I feel now
I
feel alive

I thought
that thought was true
yesterday

but yesterday fades
a ghost at play

there is no life
in memory

I feel
now
I feel
alive

I can touch
and know
what life is
with a fingertip

and I recall
everything I felt
just a day before

but
as much as that
was

alive
is now

I feel my life
I feel only
now
