satisfying (the mirror)

Poem #138 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
was too pink

too many
wrinkles

………. white foundation
………. dab rouge

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
wore thickened eyebrows

too
proletarian

………. pointy tweezers
………. serious thinning

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
wore drab eyes

too muddy

………. blue bright lenses
………. kohl mascara

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
had large ears

too-low lobes

………. big round jewels
………. pierced earrings

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
had flat short hair

a little marsupial

………. pink bob wig
………. extensions

I like myself well
I like me true
but
I would like me
better …

the image
in the mirror
was a stranger

completely unknown

………. yeah nice
………. let’s go

  1. This is great. It made me laugh despite the fact that there is someone I know who has just gone through plastic surgery as all the things she did when she looked at the image in the mirror were not enough so she went under the knife!
