jasmine under sun

Poem #103 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

at a point
he stops
suddenly surrounded
by a drift of sweetness

one side
to the other
he cocks his head
to seek the source
but nectar in the air
is elusive

two steps
he stops again
this time a circumnavigation
of the Pole
at which he stands

nothing
a clean emptiness
like water

the drift of honey
has luffed away
and the only aroma remaining
the rays
of a descendent sun
