shallow waters

Poem #99 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

the waters show
a beautiful man

he throws his mane
about his shoulders

watches closely
for the visual effect
of the flowing
of his hair

the waters show
the face
of a man
looking down
and smiling

he touches his face
pats the silvered hair
at his temples

above his brow

the waters
smile back at him
in assurance

encouragement

the waters show
a man
gazing down

reflect a sigh
of satisfaction

though time has passed
the waters continue
their reflection

though time has passed
the waters
remain shallow
