hunting a detail

Poem #66 from a series of poems drawn from the imagination and collected as: a Bachelard reverie.

Back to Bachelard and me – Introduction

I’m chasing a nuance
over to the dark side
around the curve

the hunt
leads me to shadings
but I illuminate
each step
upon the way

and what was dark
is lightened
and what was hidden
is clear
but

my nuance
has now scurried
further into darkness

adjust my helm-light
and I am
again
hurrying my pursuit
again
just behind my quarry
if I can catch it
we will see
nuance
in the day

no subtle
differentiations
no degrees
much less
overtones

away away
the hunt is up
for the nuance
and the subtle refinements
of all its kind
