cuckoo you

the bed was laid
with good intent

old rot
new dirt

a garden mountain
for me to dig
and water
and
for planting

alas
the time that passed

alas
the things that seemed
more important

never mind
never mind
here we are
right now

get the shovel
turn it over

start anew
in that good dirt

kikuyu grass

kikuyu

hardy soul
tenacious grasp

a spreader

an invader

a controller

alas
the time that passed

cuckoo

alas
the things that seemed …

cuckoo

cuckoo

cuckoo

  2. We have something called wire grass. Roots 6′ deep, spreads like crazy and very invasive. Just can’t get rid of it except with Round-up and that just sort of controls it. And you can’t spray that in the lawn.
