a prayer against harm

the un-dead stalk my mind
the ones that should be long-gone now
and yet they linger
twining around
the spark that keeps me whole

but still I see the open sky
the stars that hold a light of hope
they twinkle
but soon re-bright
and I hold on
for their return

hold away
the wraiths empty of soul
thrust away
the tendrils seeking hold

I am clean
I reject the filth and fetor
the saccharine cloy
I am clean
I breath air
straight from the sky

tonight I let the un-dead walk
for I
am the one who is now long-gone

should they linger
let them linger as they may
I guard the spark
with the strength of all my will
