scant sighting

Poem #1 from a series of meditations: the Pilgrim

Back to the Pilgrim – Introduction

pilgrim
do not weep

this is a journey
that passes almost within sight
and truly
you may catch
a fleeting glimpse

yes
even you might catch
a glimpse
before the shadows draw a veil

did you think there would be
more

sometimes it seems
over-rated
other times as though
hardly there

better if you keep your eyes down
your mind focused
on the road
for your footsteps
will leave their own mark
in the dust behind you

consider
might not that
be enough

don’t weep
pilgrim
this journey
is just a glimpse
