five elements of a loaf of bread

from the earth
wheat grown
the flour

add
the water

knead and pound
quarter turn
to knead and pound

let the air
penetrate

a sexual thing

penetrate
and rise
to fill the dough
and rise to
almost
overflow the bowl
where it’s supposed
to be resting

a quarter turn
pound and knead
(put your muscle
into the work)
and pound again
and knead

into the tray
into the fire

let that heated air
bubble up inside
and rise

bubble up and rise
golden
