Lizzie Blue steps out (2)

Poem #22 from: A Lizard Life

Back to A Lizard Life – Introduction

Elspeth Indigo
primps up each scale
works the taste of dark stripes
into her shingles

dabs the end of her tongue
in a wild
violent gentian
fade-edged away
into pink
upon purple

then out of the drain
to display on the plinth
a languor that’s laced up
in longing

she shines in the sun
like a mirror-caught light
she shines
as brilliant as diamond
