Poem #6 from: A Lizard Life

Back to A Lizard Life – Introduction

the lizard goes out
to where no lizard went
hauls a swag
doffs a dangle-corked hat
and across the broad driveway he roams

until the shade of a fence
as the sun trails the West
and the path through deep shadows
his own

there are adventures to find
on that far other side
until he tires of it all
then to home

but for now from his nose
down the stripes of his tail
he is one
just a lizard
