he has written the line
but it doesn’t read right
he has read it now
three times
each reading
is a near thing
each rewrite
is so close
and he wonders
if the difference
between a good thing
and a great thing
is a matter of
heart
of will
of commitment
his best work
flows from a wild abandon
but with this piece
he has been trying
to write
trying
to read
perhaps
perhaps it is his role now
to abandon
himself
to buy
the image
heart and soul
perhaps he has to stop
being the writer
the reader
perhaps
to create the living work
he needs to
be
