concerto

raindrops fall
like prancing footsteps
a scattered pattern
tapped across tin

above my head
the thunder drumming
a fall of dance drops
a staccato tune

players pass
in wave on wave
new notes pounding
a tattoo played

applause falls down
out of bowing tree tops
fading soft
with the passing
of the rain
