Poem #4 from tuesday night at emile’s
Back to: tuesday night at emile’s – Introduction
sometimes you have to
sing
for your supper
when the work’s not there
money’s not there
and the rent
is over
due
you have to dust your talents
work your assets
slip into a slinky
sheer legs and shiny
let your body
do the intro
let your body catch him
right
between the eyes
don’t give the mark a minute
better wriggle
do a fidget
keep your tassels twirling
and talk
and talk
like you’ve never
talked
before
just tell him anything you think of
never mind the subject
got to get your pieces
in his mind in his attention
then honey
don’t you know
you’re supping off the menu
got yourself
a brand new best friend
eyes all over you
but
it’s better not to linger
grab whatever you’ve been given
then
sister
you’d better
get you
gone
