This section of the psychiatry memoir is set in a residential unit with (relatively) homelike accommodation for residents who have long-standing, complex and treatment resistant illnesses, and who require extended periods of time out from society.
In my time working with this client group I developed considerable affection and tolerance for many. Not so much for others. Some of the client group have been in care since before my first day on the job – 40 years ago, now.
