on the move with Zorro

the young blue
is on the move

slow swimming
through the long grass

tongue whipping the air
to test for safety
he has snuck around
a corner

sidled beside a wall
to hide
behind a handy gumboot
there to test the air

then he’s away
sedately lizard waddle

away away
to parts that we
don’t know

around another corner

towards a fence
that catches sunlight

a concrete plinth to bake
with a safety nook
just below

is on the move today
perhaps tomorrow
we’ll see him

over there

over there

we’ll see him
but I don’t know
